As of Thursday morning, December 21, Russia's losses in the war in Ukraine amounted to 1,080 occupiers. Thus, the total number of losses for the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is approximately 350,270 military personnel. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have destroyed 14 tanks, 31 armored combat vehicles, and 20 enemy artillery systems, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The overall combat losses of the adversary from February 24, 2022, to December 21, 2023, are estimated as follows:

  • Personnel: approximately 350,270 (including +1,080) individuals eliminated
  • Tanks: 5,828 (including +14) units
  • Armored combat vehicles: 10,825 (including +31) units
  • Artillery systems: 8,226 (including +20) units
  • Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS): 932 (including +4) units
  • Anti-Aircraft Defense Systems: 611 units
  • Aircraft: 324 units
  • Helicopters: 324 units
  • Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs): 6,342 (including +26) units
  • Cruise missiles: 1,613 (including +1) units
  • Ships/boats: 22 units
  • Submarines: 1 unit
  • Motor Vehicles and tankers: 10,919 (including +48) units
  • Specialized vehicles: 1,208 (including +5) units.

Frontline situation

According to a report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Ukrainian Defense Forces are engaged in heavy fighting on multiple fronts. In particular, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have launched counterattacks in the Avdiivka area and continue to hold positions on the eastern (left) bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region.
