Russia's losses in Ukraine as of August 5: +1,180 troops and 69 artillery systems
Over the past 24 hours, from August 4 to 5, Russia has lost 1,180 soldiers and 31 armored combat vehicles in the ongoing war in Ukraine, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As of August 5, 2024, the approximate total combat losses of Russian forces since February 24, 2022, are as follows:
- Personnel: approximately 584,090 (+1,180) troops eliminated
- Tanks: 8,417 (+6) units
- APV (Armored personnel vehicles): 16,286 (+31) units
- Artillery systems: 16,345 (+69) units
- MLRS (Multiple launch rocket systems): 1,138 units
- Anti-aircraft warfare systems: 910 units
- Aircraft: 365 units
- Helicopters: 326 units
- UAVs operational-tactical level: 13,122 (+24) units
- Cruise missiles: 2,414 units
- Warships/boats: 28 units
- Submarines: 1 unit
- Vehicles and fuel tankers: 22,094 (+68) units
- Special equipment: 2,737 (+3) units
Data adjustments
The General Staff also reported that due to the constant influx of updated intelligence data, it was necessary to adjust some categories of enemy losses, including air defense systems, aircraft, UAVs, cruise missiles, vehicles, and special equipment.
The overall numbers have been revised, while daily losses are reported as usual.
Russian forces have reportedly advanced on three fronts in the Donetsk region.
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Ukrainian Air Force urgently requires a significantly larger number of F-16 fighter jets to enhance air defense and conduct effective combat missions along the front line.
Last night, Russian forces once again attacked Ukraine using Shahed drones. Explosions were heard on the outskirts of Kharkiv.
