Russia's losses in Ukraine as of August 3: +1,390 troops and 80 artillery systems

Hundreds of Russian troops were killed or wounded in the past 24 hours, Ukraine's Ministry of Defense reported, as Moscow also lost more military hardware across the front.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 3, 2026 are estimated to be:

Frontline situation
On August 2, Russian forces tried to break through in the Kharkiv region. Fighters from the 4th Border Guard Detachment have once again thwarted the occupiers' plans. In the seven assault groups, three vehicles used to transport personnel and supplies, and three shelters where Russian forces were attempting to establish positions and build up their forces were destroyed.
Meanwhile, Belarus expands its military with a new airborne brigade near the Ukrainian border. Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Belarusian Armed Forces Aliaksandr Iliukevich said that one battalion had already been established, while another battalion, along with combat support units, artillery, air defense, and reconnaissance units, would be formed by year-end.
