Russian forces try to break through in Kharkiv region, border guards repel assault

Fighters from the rapid response border command of Ukraine's 4th Border Guard Detachment stopped small Russian assault groups attempting to break through toward Artilne in Ukraine's Kharkiv region, according to the press service of Ukraine's State Border Guard Service.
"On the Northern Slobozhanskyi front, the enemy continues trying to advance, sending small assault groups into battle. Fighters from the 4th Border Guard Detachment have once again thwarted the occupiers' plans in the area of the settlement of Artilne," the statement said.
As a result of the operation, seven assault groups, three vehicles used to transport personnel and supplies, and three shelters where Russian forces were attempting to establish positions and build up their forces were destroyed.

Earlier, ISW analysts reported that Russia's military command was lying to dictator Vladimir Putin about the scale of its gains in northern Ukraine, claiming that Russian forces were making active advances in Kharkiv and Sumy regions.
The analysts noted that the Russian military has claimed almost daily, since at least July 22, that it has captured another settlement in Kharkiv or Sumy region.
On July 29, for example, Russian forces claimed to have captured Nova Sich, while on July 30 they claimed to have captured Mala Slobidka and Mohrytsia in Sumy region, as well as Viriivka in Kharkiv region.
At the same time, Ukraine's Armed Forces have denied these claims and carried out successful attacks in northern Ukraine.
