Ukrainian defenders eliminated another 1,130 Russian invaders over the day, as well as destroyed 4 tanks, 26 artillery systems, 1 air defense system, and 118 Russian drones, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The military department noted that due to the "constant flow of updated intelligence data," it is now necessary to adjust "some positions of total enemy losses." It's about personnel, armored fighting vehicles, artillery systems, and MLRS.

"The total figure has been adjusted, and daily losses are reported as usual," the General Staff added.

The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to April 22, 2025, are estimated to be:

  • personnel - about 943,060 (+1,130) Russian troops were eliminated;
  • tanks - 10,683 (+4);
  • troop-carrying AFVs - 22,296 (+19);
  • artillery systems - 26,689 (+26);
  • MLRS - 1,367;
  • anti-aircraft systems - 1,140 (+1);
  • aircraft - 370;
  • helicopters - 335;
  • UAV operational-tactical level - 33,388 (+118);
  • cruise missiles - 3,148;
  • warships/boats - 28;
  • submarines - 1;
  • vehicles and fuel tanks - 45,458 (+134);
  • special equipment - 3,859.

Situation at front

As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the evening report on April 21, 121 combat engagements have taken place at the front since the beginning of the day.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces also informed that the Russian occupiers continued to exert particularly active pressure in the Pokrovsk sector.

A report by experts from the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW) released on April 22 stated that Ukrainian defenders may have recently advanced in the Kupiansk sector, including taking control of the northwestern part of Petropavlivka. Meanwhile, the Russian invaders advanced near Lyman and Toretsk.
