Moscow wants a three-day ceasefire for May 9 and demands a response from Kyiv. It is not going to establish a 30-day truce, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.

Speaking about the proposal of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to establish a 30-day truce, Peskov said that it is impossible without settling all the nuances.

"We have seen it, but if we are talking about such a long-term ceasefire, then the nuances that Putin talked about in the Kremlin are important. This is also important, but without answers to these questions, it is difficult to agree to such a long-term truce," he said.

Peskov called Kyiv's refusal to give a direct response to Russia's initiative to call a three-day truce a manipulation.

Truce terms

On April 28, Vladimir Putin announced a truce from May 8 to 10. He wants all hostilities to stop during this time.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that only a complete and unconditional ceasefire for at least 30 days can provide a basis for real diplomacy.

"Now there is yet another attempt at manipulation: for some reason, everyone is expected to wait until May 8, and only then ceasefire. To ensure silence for Putin during the parade. We value people's lives, not parades. That is why we believe the world sees that there is no reason to wait until May 8. Fire must be ceased not for a few days, only to resume killing afterward," he said.

In addition, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said that US President Donald Trump wants a permanent peace, not a truce for a few days.
