Russian forces are continuing their attempts to advance and aim to seize not only the Donbas but all of Ukraine. However, Ukrainian troops are systematically weakening the enemy’s ability to wage war, according to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

Syrskyi met with members of the newly established Military Expert Council ARES (Allied Reform and Expert Support).

He held a substantive discussion with the council’s chairman, General Sir Richard Shirreff, and Lieutenant General Pavel Macko.

The Commander-in-Chief briefed his colleagues on the operational situation on the front line of the Russia-Ukraine war, including the use of new tactics and types of weapons.

“The enemy does not abandon attempts to advance and intends to seize not only the Donbas but all of Ukraine. In response, we are systematically weakening its ability to wage war — deliberately destroying resources, logistics, and military potential, repeatedly disrupting the enemy’s plans,” Syrskyi said.

At the same time, he warned against expecting the enemy’s resources to be exhausted quickly.

Situation on the front

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia is trying to intensify assault operations along the front line but is only suffering greater losses.

In March alone, Russian army losses exceeded 35,000 personnel, a significant portion of whom were eliminated thanks to the effective use of drones.

Currently, Ukraine’s Defense Forces maintain an advantage in the use of strike drones, with a ratio of 1.3 to 1 in Ukraine’s favor.

According to Syrskyi, Ukrainian forces are currently competing with Russian troops in three key areas: the quality and size of drone units, technology, and economic capacity.

Recently, Zelenskyy also stated that Ukraine’s military leadership has thoroughly analyzed Russia’s plans and has already determined further steps to counter them.
