Russia wants to encircle the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk direction but on Ukrainian territory. The command is aware of the enemy’s plans, reports Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“What are the signals from the Russian side? I believe that the Russian side wants to encircle Ukrainian forces. It is in the same direction (the Kursk direction -ed.) but on Ukrainian territory. It is important that our troops are aware of this. The command knows where they want to do this,” said the president.

Zelenskyy emphasized that the Russians want a maximum presence on Ukrainian territory, and there is nothing new about this.

“Our partners have satellites. They can see where the Russians are amassing troops and where they are headed. Then, it will be clear why. There is no talk of peace there,” the Ukrainian president stressed.

Kursk situation

As a reminder, in March, Ukrainian border guards reported that the Russians were attempting to break through the border in the Sumy region. This is also accompanied by intensifying the Russian offensive in the Kursk region.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had reported that Russia was amassing troops near Ukraine's eastern border. According to him, this indicates an intent to strike the Sumy region.

Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation (CCD), noted that the Russians are gathering forces to attack the Sumy region. Still, there are no signs of an actual offensive yet.
