Russia occupies the largest area of Ukraine in October in a year
In October, Russia occupied about 490 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory. This is the largest figure for 2024 and for the counteroffensive that has been going on since October 2023, according to Deep State.
“The area of lost territory is certainly important, but it is not the only parameter for assessing the vital activity and effectiveness of the army. If in October 2022, Russia attacked Novomykhailivka with 4 full companies, now it is a very expensive pleasure for them,” the statement says.
The Deep State notes that the indicator is the capabilities of the military-industrial complex, the level of training of the mobilized, the degree of mechanization, the availability of long-range strike capabilities, and most importantly, the rational use of human potential.
At the same time, the presence of a large number of manpower allows Russia to conduct regular rotations every 1 or 2 months. “For us, rotating the brigade, which has been in combat positions since February 24, 2022, may become a problem,” Deep State adds.
Russian offensive
According to Bloomberg, the Russian army is picking up speed in its advance in eastern Ukraine, seizing 200 square kilometers last week - the most this year. Since August 6, Russia has seized 1,146 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, about a quarter more than in the first seven months of the year.
The high pace of the Russian army's offensive has resulted in 695 units of equipment being destroyed, damaged, abandoned on the battlefield, or captured by the Ukrainian army in October, according to the Oryx project. This is the highest figure since October 2022, when the Russian military was retreating from the Kharkiv region.
The Deep State project is a Ukrainian volunteer project that monitors military operations at the front. The project actively updates maps of military operations, highlighting the current front lines, and controlled territories, and provides up-to-date information on the course of military operations.
Thanks to its regular updates, Deep State is an important source for citizens, journalists, analysts, and international observers. The project has become popular due to the information that allows people to monitor changes at the front in real-time.
