Russia names its key condition for peace talks with Ukraine

Russia is ready to enter peace talks with Ukraine only on the condition that a "reliable peace plan" is created that guarantees the fulfillment of the Kremlin's original demands, Russian Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said, according to TASS.
According to the Russian official, Moscow will agree to dialogue only if the agreement guarantees that Ukraine "will never be anti-Russia" and "will not be a battering ram for the West."
"We agree to peace talks only on the condition that it is a reliable peace plan, that nothing like this will ever happen again on Ukraine's part, that it will never be anti-Russia, that it will never be a battering ram for the West to try to inflict a geopolitical defeat on Russia... We will not allow this anymore," Matviyenko said.
"Unchanged goals" of the war
The Russian government representative also noted that Russia does not intend to adjust the so-called goals of the special military operation that were announced at the beginning of the invasion.
She stressed that Moscow "is not scrambling around before anyone and is not asking anyone for anything," while Russian troops are allegedly steadily advancing toward achieving their objectives.
Response to Western proposals
Matviyenko also commented on Western countries' initiatives regarding a possible suspension of hostilities. In her opinion, proposals for a pause on the front are merely an attempt to give Ukraine time to regroup and rearm.
"Stop, we'll rearm Ukraine here, produce additional weapons, send them there, give them some money, and then everything will start all over again. Well, we've already been through all this," the Federation Council speaker said.
Russia once again lied about its peace efforts to end the war against Ukraine. In particular, Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that Russia was allegedly moving toward ending the conflict.
Earlier, Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that a summit involving Putin, US President Donald Trump, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy makes no sense without prior preparation of a final document.
