The Russian army is modernizing air bombs used to attack Ukraine, but they are not employed on all fronts, says the Head of the United Coordinating Press Center of Security and Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine Natalia Humeniuk.

She states that the Russian army has a large number of aviation bombs in its arsenal. Moreover, the occupiers continue to improve them.

"They continue modernization, particularly, from conventional aviation bombs to guided ones. They are equipped with "wings" and acquire increased aerodynamics. Such a guided aviation bomb is capable of covering 60-70 kilometers," she said.

Humeniuk added that in the southern part of Ukraine, the occupiers have difficulties with using aviation and are afraid to approach close to Ukraine's borders. Therefore, they employ such aviation in Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions.

"So, this direction is problematic for them, and here the occupiers prefer to use tactical aviation with K-31, Kh-35, Kh-59 missiles," explained Humeniuk.

Strike on Kharkiv with guided munition

On Wednesday, March 27, the Russian army struck Kharkiv using a high-caliber guided munition for the first time. It was a UMPB D-30 SN bomb based on the FAB-250.

As reported by the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the 30-centimeter caliber munition can fly up to 90 kilometers. They are used both from aircraft and from Smerch MLRS.

As a result of the attack, 14 multistory buildings and an educational institution were damaged. There is information about one death and at least 18 wounded, including a child.
