Militarization of schoolchildren is intensifying in the temporarily occupied territories: new measures involving the Russian Ministry of Defense aim to foster loyalty and prepare children for military actions, according to a post by the Center for Countering Disinformation on Telegram.

Russia continues to increase the militarization of children in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The new initiatives include mandatory participation of schoolchildren in activities with a military focus.

Military-patriotic dictation for schoolchildren

Starting December 1, 2025, the so-called military-patriotic dictation is planned for schoolchildren and students aged 14 and older in the temporarily occupied territories.

Announcements of the event have already been posted on the platforms of the paramilitary children’s organization Yunarmiya.

School administrations in Berdyansk, Mariupol, and Melitopol have received instructions to ensure full participation and record absentees.

Involvement of the Russian Ministry of Defense and ideological indoctrination

The event will take place with active participation from the Russian Ministry of Defense, highlighting the scale of childhood militarization in the temporarily occupied territories.

The Kremlin is systematically reorienting the education system toward ideological and military indoctrination, fostering loyalty to the regime and preparing youth for participation in military actions.

Analytical data and consequences

A previously prepared analytical report from the Center details the methods Russia uses to militarize children, including lessons, competitions, and mandatory participation in military activities.

Experts emphasize that such measures violate children’s rights and create a dangerous environment for their upbringing and development.

European media have reported that Russian intelligence agencies conduct recruitment in EU countries, using disinformation and social media, employing methods similar to those used by ISIS between 2013 and 2019.

Notably, videos circulate on social media allegedly showing Ukrainians protesting and seeking help from Russia; however, the Center for Countering Disinformation confirms that this content is fake.
