Russian forces may intensify their offensive operations on the front lines by the end of April and in May. The primary focus for the Russian army is the Pokrovsk direction, stated Pavlo Palisa, Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, in an interview with Reuters.

Palisa noted that he expects Russia to ramp up its offensive operations by the end of April and in May.

In his opinion, the Russian forces will concentrate their offensive on the Pokrovsk area in Donetsk region, but they may also target the eastern fronts around Kupiansk (Kharkiv region) and Lyman (Donetsk region), as well as the southeastern fronts near Zaporizhzhia and Novopavlivka.

"The absolute priority, in my opinion, will now be on the Pokrovsk direction," added the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office.

Russia is preparing for an offensive

Recently, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that Russia has launched a new offensive in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions.

According to him, Ukraine has observed a near doubling in the number of offensive actions from Russia over the past week.

The Commander-in-Chief noted that Russia aims to establish a buffer zone in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.

The General Staff mentioned that recently, the Russian army has indeed intensified its actions along several key directions of the front. However, these are essentially part of the offensive actions Russia began in May 2024. No significant changes on the front have been reported.
