Russia massively strikes Ukraine's Kyiv, Lviv, Vinnytsia: Consequences revealed

Kyiv

At 1:07 a.m. Kyiv time, the Ukrainian military announced a threat of ballistic missile launches targeting Kyiv—almost simultaneously, the first explosions were heard in the city.

"An air raid alert has been issued in Kyiv due to the threat of ballistic missile strikes. Immediately seek the nearest shelters and remain there until the danger has passed," the Kyiv City Military Administration reports.

According to the mayor, a fire broke out on the grounds of a non-residential building in the Sviatoshynskyi district due to falling debris. A fire also broke out on the grounds of a non-residential building in the Obolonskyi district.

As of 2:55 a.m., the Kyiv City Military Administration confirmed the death of one person as a result of the nighttime Russian attack on Kyiv.

Dnipropetrovsk region

At 1:10 a.m., the Ukrainian Air Force issued a warning about missiles heading toward Dnipro. A minute later, a missile was reported to be heading toward Kryvyi Rih, and shortly thereafter, a high-speed target from the Kharkiv region was reported to be heading toward Dnipro.

According to local media, a strike was recorded near Kryvyi Rih in a residential area; people are trapped under the rubble.

As of 5:40 a.m., according to Oleksandr Vilkul, chairman of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, six people, a large family, including two children aged 5 and 12, were killed in a village on the outskirts of the city when a Russian Iskander-M ballistic missile launched from Voronezh struck a private home.

Another 8 people were injured, including two children aged 6 and 15.

The emergency rescue operation is ongoing, and the clearing of the rubble has not yet been completed. The victims are receiving all necessary assistance. According to Vilkul, the death toll may rise.

Poltava, Cherkasy, and Kirovohrad regions

A group of Russian drones was detected moving from the Poltava region toward the Cherkasy and Kirovohrad regions. Later, another group of drones was reported near Kremenchuk.

Vinnytsia

At 1:56 a.m., the Ukrainian Air Force issued a warning about missiles heading toward the Vinnytsia region. Residents of Vinnytsia were urged to take shelter, and explosions were heard in the city.

Kharkiv

A Shahed-type jet drone struck an industrial zone in the Novobavarskyi district of Kharkiv, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

Lviv

Lviv Mayor Andriy Spadovyi reported that explosions were heard in the city, cars caught fire, and damage was recorded to two high-rise buildings.

"Reports of casualties are coming in. Rescue workers and medical personnel are providing assistance to people," the Lviv Regional Military Administration reported.

At 5:35 a.m., the mayor of Lviv revealed footage of the fire that broke out as a result of the Russian attack.

He also specified that the fire had engulfed buildings on Patona and Vyhovskoho Streets. 6 people were reported to have been injured.

As of 6:50 a.m., the number of casualties from the Russian rocket attack on Lviv has risen to 15. 14 of them have been hospitalized, including one rescue worker.

People remain trapped under the rubble—rescuers from the State Emergency Service are doing everything possible to free them as quickly as possible.

Warnings about the possibility of such an attack had been issued in advance. Zelenskyy stated that Russia had been preparing a massive shelling campaign for several days in a row and urged Ukrainians to pay close attention to air raid alerts that very night.

And the night before, on the night of July 29, 229 Russian attack drones had already been launched at Ukraine from various directions; air defense forces shot down or neutralized 65 targets in the north, south, and east of the country, but recorded 14 drones hitting their targets in 10 locations.
