The Russians carried out one of the largest combined attacks on Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipropetrovsk region since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The strikes were carried out during the day and in the evening on January 7 at several locations, according to Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council.
The city headquarters worked throughout the night to eliminate the consequences of the Russian attack. Rescuers, energy workers, heating engineers, utility services, and representatives of all levels of government were involved in the work.
"Yesterday afternoon and evening, Russia carried out one of the largest combined attacks on Kryvyi Rih since the start of the full-scale invasion. The attack targeted several locations in our city," the statement says.
As of this morning, 2 of the 8 casualties remain in the hospital. Their condition is moderate and stable.
"The situation with electricity remains very difficult in the Inhuletskyi, part of the Metalurhiinyi, and part of the Dovhyntsivskyi districts. Energy workers worked all night and are working now to restore electricity as quickly as possible," says the head of the Defense Council.
According to Vilkul, 29,360 residents are currently without power.
Water supply in the south of the city is being maintained by generators, and the situation has stabilized.
Over 30 boiler rooms, including large ones, were shut down due to the Russian attack. As of this morning, all boiler rooms are operating normally, except for one in the Inhuletskyi district, which is powered by a generator and is just starting to supply heat. The city is also experiencing power surges due to water hammer.
Hospitals are operating on generators. All emergency centers are functioning and ready to switch to backup power if necessary.
Electric transport in the Inhuletskyi district has already been restored and is now operating throughout the city. Schools and kindergartens in the Inhuletskyi district will operate remotely today.
According to Vilkul, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 31 Russian drones over the region during the night.
In the Kryvyi Rih district, the attacks damaged infrastructure and caused fires. In the Nikopol district, Russia struck the communities of Nikopol, Pokrovsk, and Chervonohryhorivka with heavy artillery and FPV drones, but there were no casualties.
