Pokrovsk is the main target for Russia. It has concentrated the largest strike forces there, and fighting continues in the city, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
He said he discussed the situation in Pokrovsk and the surrounding areas with the military.
"Right now, this is where the occupiers have the most strike forces and significant assault activity. Fighting continues in the city. This is their main target — Pokrovsk," Zelenskyy emphasized.
The President added that every success of the Ukrainian military in this direction is a result for all of Ukraine and its defense.
Situation in the Pokrovsk direction
Earlier, Ukrainian defenders reported that the situation in the Pokrovsk agglomeration remains difficult. The Russian forces are attempting to encircle the city, carrying out assault operations, and using drones and guided bombs to disrupt the logistics of the Ukrainian forces.
The most challenging situation is currently south of Pokrovsk. The Russian troops are actively trying to turn the settlement of Zvirove into a gray zone where they do not have full control.
In Pokrovsk, small-arms fighting continues, with active use of drones. Ukrainian troops are stopping the enemy's attempts to advance and establish positions in urban areas through counter-sabotage measures.
The Ukrainian Air Assault Troops reported that urban fighting continues in Pokrovsk, where the enemy has entered the city due to numerical superiority in troops and equipment.
At the same time, Ukrainian defenders stressed that the Russian army does not have full control over any part of the city.
