On the night of January 6, Russia launched two missiles and over 120 UAVs against Ukraine. Ukraine's air defense downed 81 enemy targets, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

During the attack, the enemy launched:

  • Two Kh-59 guided air missiles from the southern direction;
  • 128 Shahed UAVs and drone imitators from Russian cities Bryansk, Millerovo, Oryol, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

To repel the airstrike, the following were involved:

  • Aviation;
  • Anti-aircraft missile troops;
  • Electronic warfare units;
  • Mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Ukrainian Defense Forces.

As of 9 a.m., the following has been confirmed as downed:

  • Two Kh-59 guided air missiles;
  • 79 Shahed UAVs and drones of other types.

In addition, 49 drone imitators were lost locally without negative consequences.

Due to the fallen UAV debris, there has been damage to buildings, enterprises, institutions, and private homes in the following regions:

  • Chernihiv;
  • Sumy;
  • Cherkasy;
  • Poltava;
  • Kyiv.

"According to preliminary information, there are no casualties," Ukraine's Air Force added.

Shelling of Ukraine

Over the past few months, Russia has conducted air attacks against Ukraine almost every night. During these shellings, terrorists use UAVs, artillery, guided aerial bombs, and missiles of various types.

Last night was no exception. After the launch of drones, air defense was active in Kyiv region around midnight. Due to the fallen debris in the region, two private homes and a car were damaged in one of the settlements.

Furthermore, the overhead contact network for the railway was affected.
