Russia launches six missiles and 145 drones at Ukraine: Air defense works

Russia carried out a combined missile and drone attack on Ukraine on the night of March 19. Air defense systems were active in 12 regions, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
"During the night of March 19 (starting at 7:00 p.m. on March 18), the enemy attacked with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, four S-300 surface-to-air guided missiles, and 145 Shahed-type strike UAVs along with various types of decoy drones," the report states.
The occupiers launched their targets from six directions: Bryansk, Oryol, Shatalovo, Kursk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
How air defense responds
Aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Ukrainian Defense Forces countered the aerial assault.
"As of 8:00 a.m., the confirmed number of downed Shahed-type strike UAVs and other drones stands at 72," the Ukrainian military informed
Air defense systems were active in the regions of Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa.
In addition, 56 enemy decoy drones were lost locally.
Consequences of Russia’s attack on Ukraine
Due to the Russian attack, the regions of Sumy, Odesa, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, and Chernihiv were affected.
