On the night of November 8, Russian occupiers launched yet another large-scale drone attack. Ukraine’s air defense successfully destroyed 62 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and more, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Air Force reports that the Russians also launched an Iskander-M ballistic missile from the Rostov region during the attack. Throughout the night, the terrorists launched:

  • four guided Kh-59/69 air-launched missiles from the airspace over the Belgorod region;
  • 92 attack drones of the Shahed type and other unidentified drones from Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Oryol, and temporarily occupied Crimea;
  • guided aerial bombs aimed at the Kharkiv and Sumy regions.

The defense against the attack involved:

  • anti-aircraft missile units,
  • aviation,
  • electronic warfare (EW) units,
  • mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces.

As of 9 a.m.(Kyiv time) on November 8, the destruction of four Kh-59/69 guided missiles and 62 drones has been confirmed.

The aerial assault was repelled by anti-aircraft missile units, aviation, EW units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine. An additional 26 UAVs were lost to tracking in various regions of Ukraine, while one remains in Ukrainian airspace.

Russian shelling

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, shelling of Ukrainian cities and towns has become a daily reality. The terrorists actively deploy various types of weapons, including missiles, guided bombs, and kamikaze drones, to damage civilian structures and infrastructure.

Additionally, there has been a significant increase in the number of night drone attacks in recent months, considerably raising risks for the civilian population.

As of last night’s shelling, reports indicate casualties, including one fatality in the Odesa district. Notably, aerial strikes in Kharkiv resulted in injuries to 25 people, including a child.
