Russia launched more than 200 drones of various types at Ukraine overnight, the Ukrainian Air Force informs.
The drones included Shaheds, 86 of which were jet-powered, as well as Gerbera drones and Parodiya decoy drones.
The drones were launched from the directions of Oryol, Kursk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia. They were also launched from occupied Donetsk, as well as Hvardiiske and Chauda in occupied Crimea.
The attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
What is known about the aftermath
According to preliminary data, as of 8:00 a.m. Kyiv time, air defenses had shot down or suppressed 196 enemy drones. These included 70 jet-powered Shaheds, Gerbera drones, and UAVs of other types.
At that time, around 15 more attack drones were still in the air, and combat operations were ongoing.
Hits by enemy aerial weapons were recorded at 14 locations. Debris from downed drones fell at eight other locations.
On November 5, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained why Ukraine needs Taurus missiles.
According to him, the US was unable to supply anti-ballistic missiles for air defense, leaving Ukraine with no choice but to destroy Russian launchers.
Also on Thursday, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said there would be no winners in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
According to him, the war will end with a peace agreement based on compromise.
