Russia launches over 130 drones at Ukraine from six directions: Air defense works

On the night of April 23, the Russian army launched over 130 drones at Ukraine. Air defense shot down exactly half of the enemy UAVs, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
"On the night of April 23, the enemy attacked with 134 strike UAVs (drones imitating other types)," the statement says.
Russian forces launched the drones from the areas of:
- Kursk, Bryansk, Oryol;
- Prymorsko-Akhtarsk, Chauda, Hvardiiske (Crimea).
How air defense responds
Aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defense Forces countered the enemy's air assault.
"As of 9:30 a.m. (Kyiv time - ed.), the downing of 67 strike UAVs of the Shahed type (or other drone variants) was confirmed in the east, north, south, and central parts of the country," the Ukrainian military reported.
In addition, 47 enemy decoy drones were lost locally.
Consequences of Russia's attack on Ukraine
Due to the enemy attack, the Kharkiv, Poltava, Donetsk, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk regions, and Zaporizhzhia were affected.
In particular, Poltava suffered a massive air strike by Russian occupiers that night, with the enemy drones targeting exclusively civilian infrastructure. Three people were injured in the attack.
Also, on the night of April 23, at least six explosions were heard in Kharkiv. By morning, local authorities reported damage to residential buildings from enemy strikes.
Furthermore, on April 22, Russian forces carried out an airstrike on infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia. A 55-year-old woman was killed, and 23 others were injured, including four children.
