The Russian army carried out nine Shahed drone strikes on the city of Zaporizhzhia, according to Zaporizhzhia regional governor Ivan Fedorov.

Russian forces reportedly carried out nine Shahed drone strikes on the city of Zaporizhzhia.

In one of the districts, fires broke out in an apartment building and several private houses.

"Emergency services are working to eliminate the consequences. As of now, there are no casualties," Fedorov wrote.

He also published a photo showing a fire in one of the apartment buildings.

"As a result of the attack, apartment buildings in one of the city’s districts were damaged," wrote Ivan Fedorov.

Earlier, the regional governor reported that Russian forces had struck Zaporizhzhia.

"They targeted infrastructure facilities. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties," he said.

Ivan Fedorov later confirmed that one person was injured in the Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia.

He also shared a video showing State Emergency Service (SES) rescuers extinguishing the fire.

Massive attack on Ukrainian cities

Ukraine came under a massive overnight attack on October 22. Explosions were heard in Kyiv and other cities as ballistic missiles and drones struck, with air defence forces actively responding.

Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko reported fires in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital.

Strikes were also reported in Zaporizhzhia, where infrastructure was targeted.

In Izmail, Odesa region, power outages occurred following explosions.

Explosions were also heard in Dnipro.
