Russia launches nearly 200 drones from seven directions: How Ukraine's air defense responded

Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 173 attack drones overnight on September 26, with launches carried out from seven directions. Ukraine's air defense forces managed to shoot down most of the enemy targets, accotding to the Ukrainian Air Force.
The Russians attacked with:
- 173 Shahed-type attack drones, more than 50 of them jet-powered, as well as Gerbera drones and Parodiya-type decoy drones.
- The drones were launched from seven directions: Oryol, Kursk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Shatalovo in Russia; and the temporarily occupied Donetsk and the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea - Hvardiiske.
The main areas targeted were Kyiv region, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia.
According to preliminary data, as of 8:00 a.m., air defense had shot down or suppressed 134 targets:
- Shahed-type drones, Gerbera drones and other types of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Hits by enemy aerial attack weapons were recorded at 19 locations, while debris from downed targets fell at eight locations.
As of 7:30 a.m., the attack was still ongoing, with several UAVs remaining in Ukrainian airspace.
Attacks on Ukraine on September 26
Overnight on September 26, Russian forces attacked Kyiv and Kharkiv with attack drones. Fires were reported in both cities as a result of the attack, and people were injured in one of them.
The occupiers also attacked Zaporizhzhia with drones. A house and a market caught fire, with people killed and injured, including a child among those wounded.
