On the night of May 2, Russia attacked Ukraine with 163 strike drones. Air defense forces managed to shoot down the majority of the enemy UAVs, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

From 6:00 p.m. on May 1 to the morning of May 2, Russian forces attacked with 163 strike drones, including Shahed-type drones (including jet-powered versions), Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of UAVs launched from the directions of Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), as well as Hvardiiske and Chauda in temporarily occupied Crimea.

About 100 of the launched drones were Shaheds.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defense shot down or suppressed 142 enemy drones of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and other types in the north, south, and east of the country.

A total of 17 strike drones hit 12 locations, while debris from downed drones fell in 2 locations.

"The attack is ongoing, several enemy drones are still in the airspace," the Air Force warned.

Strikes on Ukraine

As a reminder, on the night of May 2 and into the morning, Russian forces once again attacked several Ukrainian cities. As a result of the enemy shelling, damaged homes, vehicles, and a port were reported.

Kharkiv, Izmail, Kryvyi Rih, Sumy, Mykolaiv, and Zaporizhzhia came under drone attacks.

In particular, Kharkiv’s Shevchenkivskyi and Kholodnohirskyi districts were targeted.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a Shahed drone struck the 12th floor of a residential apartment building. A local resident was injured. However, the enemy drone did not detonate, which "allowed more serious consequences to be avoided."

In Izmail, port infrastructure was once again attacked overnight. There was virtually no destruction.

In Kryvyi Rih, a fire broke out and infrastructure was damaged as a result of the attack.
