Russian forces began a mechanized assault on Pokrovsk this morning, December 10. Ukrainian soldiers are holding the defense, according to the 7th Corps of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces.

According to the military, the Russians launched the assault early in the morning, attempting to take advantage of unfavorable weather conditions. For the attack, the enemy deployed armored vehicles, cars, and motorcycles. The columns tried to break through into the northern part of the city from the southern direction.

Ukrainian defenders anticipated the enemy’s assault and began repelling the attack in an organized manner. In particular, the 68th Oleksa Dovbush Rifle Brigade managed to destroy the first Russian "box" of forces. After that, other units, including artillery, began targeting Russian equipment and soldiers. This operation is ongoing.

The 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces specified that, according to preliminary information, the Russian forces deployed units of the 76th Pskov Air Assault Division for the assault.

The defense of the Pokrovsk agglomeration continues. The operation involves the Air Assault Forces, assault units, the Drone Forces, Special Operations Forces, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the National Guard, and the National Police.

Logistics remain complicated. To enhance supply capabilities, an operation is underway to expand logistical corridors to Myrnohrad.

Fighting in Pokrovsk

Earlier, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that, at one point in the fall, there were no Ukrainian troops left in Pokrovsk.

According to the general, Ukraine then conducted a counteroffensive operation — more than a third of the city was cleared of Russian troops. Currently, Defense Forces soldiers maintain control over the northern part of Pokrovsk.

The general also noted that he ordered the withdrawal of Ukrainian defenders who had been holding positions 5–7 kilometers from Pokrovsk. He explained that this was necessary because troop rotation was impossible.
