Russian troops attacked Ukrainian territory with strike drones from several directions at night, December 17. Most of the enemy targets were eliminated by air defense forces, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

“On the night of December 17, the enemy attacked with 69 Shahed and Gerbera strike UAVs and other types of drones,” the Air Force said.

The drones flew from the directions of Kursk, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Millerovo, Russia, as well as Hvardiiske in Crimea.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare, and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

According to preliminary data, as of 9 a.m. (Kyiv time), air defense forces shot down or suppressed 37 enemy Shahed and Gerbera UAVs and other types of drones in the north, south, and east of the country. 29 strike UAVs were also recorded hitting 12 locations.

“The attack continues, with several enemy UAVs in the airspace. Please follow safety rules,” the Ukrainian Air Force added.

Russian attacks on Odesa and the region

In the evening and at night, Russian troops attacked the south of the Odesa region with strike drones. The attack resulted in destruction.

Also, on the night of December 13, Russian troops carried out a massive attack on Odesa and the region, resulting in power and water supply disruptions in the region.

Work to connect all districts of Odesa continues unabated. DTEK energy company reported that due to massive Russian strikes on the energy infrastructure of Odesa and the region, about 288,000 families remain without electricity in the region.

The central water supply has been fully restored. Drinking and technical water are being delivered to residents as needed, and emergency centers and field kitchens continue to operate.
