Russia launches combined strike on Ukraine: Ukraine's air defense work
Russian troops attacked Ukraine with drones and Kh-101 missiles. The main target of the Russian attack was Starokostiantyniv, Khmelnytskyi region, according to the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force Mykola Oleshchuk.
"In the evening of July 11, the Russian occupiers attacked from strategic aviation aircraft with 5 Kh-101 air-launched cruise missiles (launched from Saratov region), and during the night - with 19 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs and unidentified drones from the areas of Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Kursk region," he says.
Ukrainian air defense's work
According to the general, the main target of the Russian attack was Starokostiantyniv.
"Ukrainian air defense shot down Russian missiles in Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, and Cherkasy regions," Oleshchuk adds.
According to him, Ukrainian air defense also shot down 11 Shaheds and unidentified drones in Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Kherson, and Sumy regions.
"The remaining 8 drones were lost in the area. Presumably, Russia is using imitators of attack UAVs to overload air defense," states Oleshchuk.
Russian shelling of Ukraine
On the evening of July 11, Kyiv and some regions declared an air alert due to the launch of a missile from the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. Air defense systems were deployed in the Kyiv region, and air defense forces shot down a Russian drone on the outskirts of Kyiv.
Later, on July 11, a large-scale air alert was announced in Ukraine because of the takeoff of a Russian MiG-31K. This was the third large-scale alert in a row.
On the night of July 12, the Russians attacked Khmelnytskyi region. Ukrainian Air Defense Forces shot down 3 Russian attack units.
