Russia launched drones, ballistic missiles and S-400s: How Ukraine's air defenses repelled the attack

Russia attacked Ukraine overnight on August 8 with Iskander-M ballistic missiles, S-400 surface-to-air guided missiles and attack drones. Ukraine's air defenses managed to shoot down most of the enemy drones, but failed to intercept the ballistic missiles, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
This night, Russia attacked Ukraine with:

six Iskander-M ballistic missiles;

S-400 surface-to-air guided missiles from Russia's Bryansk region;

151 attack drones, including Shahed-type drones (including jet-powered ones), Gerbera drones, Italmas drones and Parody-type decoy drones, launched from the following areas: Kursk, Millerovo, Oryol and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, the temporarily occupied Donetsk region and Hvardiiske in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
The air attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire teams of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 9:00 a.m., air defenses had shot down or suppressed 135 enemy drones in northern, southern and eastern Ukraine.
Missile strikes and hits by 13 attack drones were recorded at 12 locations, while debris from downed targets fell at seven locations. In addition, several missiles failed to reach their targets, and the information is being clarified.
Attacks on Ukraine
It should be recalled that Russian forces launched ballistic missiles at Kyiv overnight on August 8.
In Kyiv's Holosiivskyi district, a fire was reported in an area of non-residential development.
In the Obolonskyi district, a fire was reported involving fuel tanks.
Several people were also reported injured.
Russia also attacked the Kyiv region with drones. In Brovary district, a private home, outbuildings and a vehicle were damaged by falling debris. Three people were killed, including a child.
