Russia launched 62 drones and 8 missiles at Ukraine overnight: Air defense response
On the night of October 10, Russian occupiers launched another attack on Ukraine using strike drones and various types of missiles. Air defense forces successfully destroyed 41 drones, according to the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The attack lasted from 7:00 PM on October 9 to 10:00 AM on October 10 Kyiv time. The terrorists launched:
- 2 Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea;
- 1 Kh-31P guided air-to-surface missile from the airspace of Crimea;
- 2 Kh-59/69 guided air-to-surface missiles from the airspace of Crimea;
- 3 S-300 surface-to-air missiles from the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region;
- 62 drones from the Russian cities of Primorsk-Akhtarsk and Kursk.
Air forces, surface-to-air missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups were involved in repelling the attack.
In total, 41 enemy drones were destroyed within Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson, Kyiv, and several other regions.
Another 14 drones were reported lost in various regions of Ukraine, likely due to active electronic warfare countermeasures. This information is being clarified.
The Air Forces added that as of 11 AM Kyiv time, combat operations were still ongoing, as several drones remained in Ukraine's airspace. Notably, there is significant activity of reconnaissance drones in the north and south.
Shelling of Ukraine
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, regular terrorist shelling of Ukrainian territory has become the new norm. Russian occupiers use missiles, guided aviation bombs, and drones. Recently, terrorists have been actively launching drones almost every night.
For instance, on the night of October 9, the enemy launched:
- Three Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles aimed at the Poltava region;
- 22 Shahed-type drones.
The air defense forces managed to destroy 21 drones, while one of the drones returned to Russia.
