Russia launched 4 Iskander missiles and over 130 drones at Ukraine overnight
On the night of January 21, Russia attacked Ukraine with 131 Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and imitation drones. They also launched four Iskander-M ballistic missiles, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Russians launched 131 drones from the directions of the Russian cities of Millerovo, Oryol, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and four Iskanders from the Voronezh region.
The following forces were involved in repelling the air attack:
- aviation;
- anti-aircraft missile troops;
- electronic warfare (EW) units;
- mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
As of 9 a.m., 72 drones were confirmed downed in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, and several other regions.
Another 59 drones were lost without any negative consequences.
“Institutions, outbuildings, and private homes were damaged in the Poltava and Cherkasy regions. Special services are eliminating the consequences, without casualties,” the Air Force wrote.
Russia's attacks on Ukraine
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has been regularly attacking the territory of Ukraine. They use drones, guided aerial bombs, artillery, missiles of various types, etc. Civilian infrastructure is often targeted, which poses a serious threat to ordinary citizens.
As Ukrainian railways reported, Russians shelled the railway infrastructure in the Dnipropetrovsk region, injuring two railway workers. A building and rolling stock were also damaged.
