On Monday, December 9, Russia deployed a carrier of Kalibr missiles into the Black Sea. Its total salvo could include up to 4 missiles, reports the Ukrainian Navy.

At the same time, as of 06:00 Kyiv time, there are no enemy ships in the Sea of Azov. However, six vessels have been recorded in the Mediterranean Sea. Of these, four are carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles, with a total salvo of up to 41 missiles.

Military sources reported that over the past 24 hours, in the interests of Russia, the following vessels passed through the Kerch Strait:

  • to the Black Sea- 8 ships, 5 of which continued towards the Bosporus Strait;
  • to the Sea of Azov - 9 ships, 1 of which was coming from the Bosporus Strait.

"Russia continues to violate the 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) by disabling automatic identification systems," the statement reads.

In November 2024, Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk stated that the effectiveness of the Kalibr missiles used by Russia in attacks on Ukraine has significantly decreased.

He pointed out that the use of these missiles on their own does not yield the desired results, and Russia is aware of this. Even in combined attacks, the effectiveness of the Kalibrs remains questionable.

"It should not be excluded that the missiles may be used in combined attacks or during training operations by Russian sailors. However, even in such scenarios, the effectiveness of the Kalibrs remains questionable," he said.
