Russia can not achieve victory in its war against Ukraine, and European countries must increase their support for Kyiv. At the same time, the threat posed by Moscow to Europe’s northern and eastern borders is only intensifying, stated UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, according to The Guardian.

Situation on the battlefield

According to the British Prime Minister, despite the Kremlin’s propaganda claims, the real situation on the front demonstrates the resilience of Ukraine’s defense.

Starmer emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to inflict heavy losses on the enemy and reclaim their territories.

"So whatever Putin may tell himself, after four years, the truth is that Russia is not winning. They won’t win. And they must stop blocking the path to a just and lasting peace," the UK PM said.

He stressed that European leaders must "keep up the pressure on Putin" and strengthen measures against Russia’s so-called shadow fleet.

Threat to Europe

Speaking in Helsinki, Starmer noted that although global attention is currently focused on developments in the Middle East, the danger from Russia has not disappeared. On the contrary, he believes it has become more pronounced.

"The threat from Russia in the north and in the east has not gone away; in fact, in my view, that threat has grown," he warned.

The British leader also highlighted the exceptional resilience of Ukrainians in the face of constant attacks, adding that Ukraine’s experience in countering Iranian drones is critically important for the security of the entire continent.

Assistance from the UK and allies

The United Kingdom recently officially confirmed a large-scale military aid package for Ukraine worth £13 billion. London assured that it will continue to support Kyiv in its fight against Russian aggression for as long as it takes.

In addition to financial support, the British government has established a special headquarters of 70 personnel to train Ukrainian troops and coordinate humanitarian projects. An additional £200 million has been allocated for the training of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

After the latest Ramstein meeting, Ukraine’s partners agreed to allocate a total of $38 billion. These funds will be directed toward the procurement of drones, air defense systems, and missiles for Patriot systems.
