The Russian army is currently losing more than 5,000 troops every week in the war against Ukraine, but that's not all, says US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to The Guardian.

The top US diplomat said he has access to new data on the course of the Russia-Ukraine war.

As it turns out, this could be the only conflict in history in which the number of soldiers killed in combat exceeds the number of those wounded.

Rubio emphasized it is a very bloody war.

Against this backdrop, he noted that Ukraine is also losing a great many military personnel and civilians. The country is paying a high price to defend its people and territory.

"We’ve seen you know civilian deaths, strikes in Kyiv. … This war has not been good for Ukraine either. So I think both sides should have an incentive to bring it to an end," Rubio said.

According to him, President Donald Trump's team is still doing everything possible to make that happen as quickly as possible.

The Secretary of State assured that efforts to find compromises are ongoing and that Washington remains engaged in the process.

Rubio also said under what circumstances the United States is ready to act in Russia's war against Ukraine.

Moreover, it was revealed what specific demand Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov presented to Rubio during their meeting.
