Russia increased number of troops in Ukraine by 100,000 in 2024
The intensity of the war is growing both in terms of scale and number of troops. The number of Russian troops in Ukraine has increased by 100,000 this year, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi tells Le Monde.
He says the number of Russian troops is constantly increasing. This year, according to our estimates, there are an additional 100 thousand Russian soldiers on Ukrainian soil, he adds.
According to Syrskyi, the war has reached such a technological level that we can now talk about both the confrontation of technologies and the confrontation of armed forces. According to him, this has significantly affected the tactics used by the troops on the battlefield.
Syrskyi says Ukraine's main goal in defense is to inflict maximum losses on the battlefield and destroy Russia's military potential deep in its territory.
According to RBC-Ukraine's source in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of early November, the Russian group in Ukraine numbered about 574-575,000 personnel. Moscow wanted to increase its numbers to 690,000 by the end of this year, but it failed to do so primarily because of heavy losses.
According to UK intelligence, infantry attacks made November 2024 the most expensive month of the war for Russia. The daily loss rate was 1,523 people.
Russia's casualty rate is likely to continue to average more than 1,000 people per day in December 2024, despite the onset of winter, as infantry attacks will continue on several fronts, UK intelligence predicts.
