Russia amasses over 500,000 soldiers in Ukraine, source says
The Russian grouping in Ukraine now numbers about 574-575 thousand personnel. Moscow wanted to increase its number to 690,000 by the end of this year but failed primarily because of heavy losses, according to a source in the General Staff.
There are also 11,000 DPRK soldiers in the Kursk region. Their training time is constantly being extended. The latest known deadline is by the end of November. So far, there are no signs that they have participated directly in hostilities on a large scale. Together with several generals, they are learning modern methods of warfare.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the total number of Russian troops in the Kursk region is currently 59,000. They planned to increase it to 60,000.
In order to conduct combat operations in the Kursk region, Moscow was forced to temporarily abandon its strategic offensive in the Zaporizhzhia region and withdrew one division from there to the Kursk region, the source said.

Vladimir Putin has ordered to increase the number of Russian troops by 180,000 to 1.5 million from December 1, 2024.
According to British intelligence, in October, the average daily losses of Russian troops in the war in Ukraine reached a new high and tend to grow further. In October, Russia lost 42,000 people. Since the beginning of the war, Russia has probably lost more than 700,000 people killed and wounded.
