On his official X account, French President Emmanuel Macron has responded to Russia's strikes on Kryvyi Rih and Kyiv, condemning Russia for disregarding peace proposals.

"On this day of national mourning in Ukraine, my thoughts are with the children and all civilian victims of the deadly strikes carried out by Russia, such as in Kryvyi Rih on April 4. Again last night, numerous Russian strikes targeted residential areas in Kyiv and several other Ukrainian cities," the statement says.

Macron also noted that almost a month had passed since Ukraine accepted US President Donald Trump's proposal for a full and unconditional 30-day ceasefire. During this time, "while we work with all our partners to secure peace, Russia continues its war with renewed intensity, showing no regard for civilians."

The French President emphasized that Russian strikes must be stopped. If Moscow continues to refuse peace, "strong action must follow."

"These Russian strikes must stop. A ceasefire must be reached as soon as possible. And strong action must follow if Russia continues to stall and reject peace. How much longer will Russia toy with peace offers from the United States and Ukraine, while continuing to kill children and civilians?" Macron concluded.

Strikes on Kyiv and Kryvyi Rih

Last night, in addition to drones, the Russians attacked Ukraine with cruise and ballistic missiles. This prompted two nationwide air alerts in the country.

In Kyiv, several explosions were heard throughout the night as air defense systems shot down enemy drones. However, in the morning, the city came under a ballistic missile attack, resulting in reported damage. Furthermore, on April 4, the Russians launched a ballistic missile strike on Kryvyi Rih. Later that evening, the city was attacked by strike drones. As of the latest data, 20 people have been reported dead, and over 70 others have been injured due to the attack.
