Russia hits Ukraine with Iskander missile and nearly 140 drones: How air defenses responded

During the night of December 14, Russia attacked Ukraine using an Iskander-M ballistic missile and 138 drones. Air defense forces managed to shoot down 110 enemy UAVs, according to the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Air Force.
According to the military, from 7:00 p.m. on December 13 until the morning of December 14, Russian forces launched an Iskander-M ballistic missile (from Russia's Rostov region) and 138 attack drones of the Shahed type, Gerbera, and other UAVs from the following directions: Oryol, Kursk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Shatalovo (Russia), and Hvardiiske (temporarily occupied Crimea). About 85 of them were Shahed drones.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data as of 8:30 a.m., air defenses shot down or suppressed 110 enemy Shahed-type UAVs, Gerbera drones, and other drones in the north, south, and east of the country.
Missile and drone strikes were recorded at six locations, involving one missile and 10 attack drones.
"The attack is ongoing. About 18 enemy UAVs remain in Ukrainian airspace. Follow safety rules!" the Air Force warned.
Shelling of Ukraine
As a reminder, since the night of December 14 Russian troops have been carrying out a massive air attack on Odesa region using various types of weapons. The air raid alert has been ongoing for five hours.
In addition, on the evening of December 13 Russian forces continued to terrorize Dnipropetrovsk region, striking populated areas and civilian infrastructure.
In Sumy, an enemy drone hit a multi-story residential building. More than 100 windows were damaged, including about 40 in private apartments.
