On the night of February 26, Russia once again launched a massive attack on Ukraine using drones and missiles. Many regions reported damaged and destroyed buildings, fires broke out in Kyiv, and two shopping centers in Zaporizhzhia were hit.

RBC-Ukraine reports on the consequences of the Russian attack as of now.

How Russia attacked

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, a large number of Russian drones were detected over Ukraine after 1 a.m. Kyiv time.

In addition, at 3:52 a.m., Russians launched ballistic missiles towards Kyiv and Kharkiv.

Also, during the night, the Russians launched cruise missiles from Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers. Missiles were already over Ukraine at 5:25 a.m., mainly heading toward Kyiv.

Kyiv

According to Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, the consequences of the Russian strikes were recorded in Darnytskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Pecherskyi districts.

Russia attacked Kyiv with drones and ballistic missiles. Although cruise missiles were also flying towards the city, no explosions were heard during the attack. So far, it is known that:

  • In the Darnytskyi district, the blast wave (caused by falling debris) damaged windows and doors in an apartment on the first floor of a nine-story residential building. There is no fire
  • In the Holosiivskyi district, falling debris caused a fire in garages
  • In the Pecherskyi district, a fire broke out in a private house.

All fires have now been extinguished. There is no information about casualties.

Kharkiv

Immediately after Kyiv, Russian drones and ballistic missiles flew into Kharkiv. According to preliminary information, Russia attacked the city with 17 drones and two missiles. The consequences were recorded in 4 districts of the city. In particular:

  • In the Kyivskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, apartment buildings and private houses were damaged, power lines were torn down, and a gas pipeline was broken.
  • In the Saltivskyi district, a private house was destroyed by a Russian strike
  • In the Slobidskyi district, a private house was also destroyed, and a fire broke out at the site of the strike.
  • One of the Russian strikes hit Central Park.

Casualties

According to local authorities, nine people were injured in Kharkiv. However, taking into account the shelling of the village of Rai-Olenivka, the total number of casualties reached 14. One child was among them.

Zaporizhzhia

Last night, Russia launched a massive drone attack on Zaporizhzhia. Head of the Regional Military Administration Ivan Fedorov reported that as a result of the night Russian attack, 19 apartment buildings, 4 private houses, and non-residential buildings were damaged in the city.

Two shopping centers were also hit, one of which was Epicenter. As of this morning, more than 500 buildings in Zaporizhzhia are without heat.

At the same time, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine listed the following consequences:

  • In one nine-story building, apartments on the 7th and 8th floors were on fire;
  • In another, apartments, balconies, and windows were damaged without further burning;
  • A fire broke out in a shopping center covering an area of 60 square meters
  • A private house was damaged
  • Russian strike damaged the roof of another shopping center.

Casualties

According to Ivan Fedorov, 6 people were injured in the city, but later another woman sought medical help.

Kryvyi Rih

The head of the city's defense council, Oleksandr Vilkul, reports that Russia attacked Kryvyi Rih with drones last night.

As a result of the Russian attack, about 10 houses have been damaged, with one five-story building suffering severe damage.

"According to the information currently available, about 10 residential buildings were damaged as a result of the attack, one five-story building was seriously damaged - the roof was pierced, a kindergarten, a fire station, administrative buildings, a car was burned, and another car was damaged," the report says.

Casualties

In addition to the above consequences, two people were injured in Kryvyi Rih: an 89-year-old man and an 83-year-old woman.

Odesa region

Early in the morning, Russia struck the energy infrastructure of the Odesa region. As a result of the Russian attack, an energy facility in the south of the region was damaged.

According to preliminary information, there were no casualties, and the relevant services have begun work to eliminate the consequences of the Russian strike.

Poltava region

According to the head of the regional military administration, Vitalii Diakivnych, debris and direct Russian strikes damaged a facility in the Poltava district.

In the Lubny district, Russian debris damaged a private home and a power line, leaving 18,209 households and 1,781 enterprises without power.

Cherkasy region

According to the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, a Russian missile and 20 drones were destroyed within the region by Ukrainian air defense forces.

In the Zolotonosha district, Russian debris damaged the building of a former store, and the fire was quickly extinguished.

Vinnytsia region

As a result of Russian shelling in the Vinnytsia region, about 20 houses were damaged. Unfortunately, one woman was injured. She is already receiving the necessary assistance.
