Russia has to decide within weeks whether it is ready for peace, says Rubio

Russia has to decide in the coming weeks whether it is ready to end a full-scale war, says the United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio at a press conference after a meeting of NATO ministers.
President Donald Trump wants to end the war as soon as possible, Rubio says. And it can be realized on terms acceptable to both sides.
"And that's what we're in the process of finding out. We will know soon enough, in a matter of weeks, not months, whether Russia is serious about peace, or not. I hope they are. It would be good for the world if that war ended. But obviously we have to test that proposition," he said
The Secretary of State noted that Washington needs to know Moscow's decision. Ukraine, for its part, has demonstrated its readiness for a ceasefire and created a space for negotiations, and therefore Russia must also decide soon whether it is ready for peace.
US involvement in peace talks
Today, the United States is engaged with Ukraine and Russia to help both countries end the war. For Kyiv, Washington has suspended military aid and intelligence sharing to put pressure. Meanwhile, there have been no specific measures against Russia, other than US threats.
According to Finnish President Alexander Stubb, US President Donald Trump is allegedly the only person capable of mediating peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.
