Russia has resources to escalate border, not advance on Kharkiv - Countering disinformation agency
Russia may have the resources to escalate actions in the Kharkiv region border area. But it has no capabilities for seizing Kharkiv, according to Andrii Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defense Council's Center for Countering Disinformation.
"The enemy has the resources to intensify actions in the Kharkiv region. The defense forces control the situation," he said.
According to Kovalenko, the actions of Russian troops are predictable. Earlier there were reports that the enemy might have resources to escalate in the border areas of Kharkiv region, but not to seize Kharkiv.
Ukrainians are warned that fakes about the alleged raid on Kharkiv may appear online.
"It is important not to confuse it with the ability to capture Kharkiv, which is excluded. There will be a lot of fakes on this topic," Kovalenko said.
Today there were reports that the situation is allegedly difficult in the direction of Vovchansk (about 70 km out of Kharkiv). It was also said that the Russian army could allegedly deploy reserves in this area.
Background
In recent weeks, there have been reports online that Russia may be preparing a second offensive on Kharkiv. The Ukrainian military stresses that it does not have sufficient forces to capture one of the largest Ukrainian cities.
According to the Defense Intelligence, the Russian army may be preparing an offensive against Kharkiv and Sumy regions in early summer.
Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavliuk, the commander of the Ground Forces, confirmed that the Russian forces could have plans to attack Kharkiv and Sumy. But it is not known how serious these plans are.
