Russia focuses major offensive on Sumy region, Zelenskyy says

Russian troops have been on a continuous offensive across all front-line directions for several months. The greatest concentration of their efforts is in the Sumy region, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during a press conference.
"Their offensive actions began in all directions. The main direction was the Sumy direction, where 67,000 troops were concentrated. We took appropriate steps to prevent them from uniting," Zelenskyy said.
According to him, Russian forces are now working to regroup and recover.
"That is, they want to carry out this offensive. In fact, our military describes the situation as Russia being in a constant offensive, and this has been ongoing for several months," the President added.
Russia's offensive
Earlier, Ukrainian intelligence officials told the Financial Times that Russia is preparing for a large-scale offensive in Ukraine, rather than signaling any readiness for peace talks.
CNN also reported that surveillance footage over the past few weeks has shown Russia moving significant forces and equipment to positions just dozens of kilometers from the front line.
According to Ukraine’s Operational Tactical Group Kharkiv, Russian forces are building up, and the summer offensive has actually already begun.
