Russia fires two Iskander missiles and 50 UAVs at Ukraine, one drone crosses into Romania
On the night of January 17, Russia attacked Ukraine with drones and ballistic missiles. One of the drones flew into Romania, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Russians used two Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Rostov region and launched 50 drones from five directions: Millerovo, Oryol, Bryansk, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
As of 9:00 a.m., 33 drones were confirmed downed. The air defense system was operating in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions.
Nine more simulator drones were lost in the area (without negative consequences). According to the Ukrainian Air Force, one drone left Ukrainian airspace in the direction of Romania.
Consequences of the Russian attack
Russian drones attacked the Izmail district of the Odesa region overnight. They targeted the port infrastructure. There were no casualties.
The Air Force adds that the fall of the downed enemy drones damaged buildings of institutions, private enterprises, and households in the Kharkiv, Cherkasy, and Kyiv regions.
As reported, a 12-year-old boy was injured in a night attack in the Kyiv region. Police and the State Emergency Service showed footage of the aftermath of the attack in the Kyiv region.
