Russia fired 58 missiles and drones at Ukraine: Air defense operation report
During another attack by the Russian army on September 2, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down or neutralized 23 out of 35 Russian missiles and all 23 Shahed drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
According to the press service, on the night of September 2, 2024, the Russians launched missile strikes on the Kyiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions, using ballistic, cruise, and anti-aircraft guided missiles, as well as Shahed-type UAVs from the southern direction.
Radio-technical troops of the Air Force detected and tracked 58 air targets: 35 missiles of various types and 23 strike UAVs:
- 16 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from the Bryansk, Voronezh, and Kursk regions of Russia;
- 14 Kh-101 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS aircraft from the airspace of the Volgograd region of Russia;
- 4 S-300/S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles from the Belgorod region of Russia;
- 1 missile of an unidentified type from the Belgorod region of Russia;
- 23 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs from Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Russia.
As a result of combat operations by anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire teams, the following were shot down:
- 9 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 13 Kh-101 cruise missiles;
- 20 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs.
Additionally, due to active countermeasures by Ukraine's Defense Forces, one Kh-101 cruise missile and three strike UAVs failed to reach their targets and were lost from radar, according to the report.
