Russia fears 'blockade' of Kaliningrad and threatens retaliation against the West

Russia could use nuclear weapons in the event of a blockade of the Kaliningrad region, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's spokesperson claims that Moscow is allegedly hearing all the statements being made about Kaliningrad.
"Russia is noting the West's increasingly aggressive rhetoric about plans to blockade Kaliningrad and is responding to it," Peskov said.
Against this backdrop, he mentioned Russia's possession of nuclear weapons and its ability to use them.
According to him, discussions on the matter with European politicians are already underway.
"Russian diplomats are reminding hotheads in Europe that a nuclear response to a blockade of Kaliningrad is stipulated by regulatory documents," Peskov said.
Meanwhile, the Russian embassies in the United Kingdom and Ireland issued strong statements the previous day in response to reports by British media, including the i Paper, and television broadcasts discussing possible scenarios for a naval and air blockade of Kaliningrad by NATO forces.
The Russian diplomatic missions stated that any military action or attempt to block Kaliningrad's links with Russia would allegedly trigger a "response by all available means," including nuclear weapons.
Moreover, Moscow raised the possibility of preemptive strikes on decision-making centers.
RBC-Ukraine previously reported that Putin had increased the size of the Russian army for the fourth time this year amid rumors of mobilization.
It was also reported that the Kremlin chief had placed energy and oil refining data in Russia under a blanket secrecy order.
