Russia has stated that the current foreign policy course of Armenia's leadership is unacceptable to Moscow, states Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.

According to the Russian diplomat, the issue of relations with Armenia was discussed at a meeting of a special working group of the Russian Security Council.

The Russian ministry expressed dissatisfaction with the line currently being pursued by the Armenian leadership.

"Namely, the line that the Armenian leadership will maintain membership in the Eurasian Economic Union only until it transitions to membership in the EU. Such approaches do not suit us. Such approaches are absolutely unacceptable to us," Galuzin stated.

He reminded that Yerevan signed the treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union, under which it undertakes not to take actions that would threaten or hinder Eurasian economic integration.

Recently, Russian leader Vladimir Putin criticized Armenia and warned the country about the inadmissibility of a course toward the EU. The Kremlin chief noted that such a policy could lead to a scenario similar to the events in Ukraine in 2014, referring to Russia's armed invasion.

Earlier, Armenia officially confirmed that it is not an ally of the aggressor country in the war against Ukraine. Yerevan reported that it continues to provide humanitarian support to Kyiv.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan boasted about the achievements of democracy in Armenia during a meeting with the Russian dictator. In particular, he stated that his country has no political prisoners and that social media remains completely free.
