This morning, two Russian missile carriers equipped with Kalibr missiles were spotted in the Black Sea, capable of launching up to 8 cruise missiles. Just a day earlier, only one such vessel was observed, according to the Ukrainian Naval Forces.
The Russian ship group in the Black Sea could launch up to 8 Kalibr missiles in a single salvo if attacked.
The military department also mentioned that there were no ships observed in the Azov Sea on the morning of Saturday, March 28.
Additionally, four Russian ships were detected in the Mediterranean Sea on Saturday morning, three of which were Kalibr carriers, capable of launching a total of 26 cruise missiles.
According to the Ukrainian Naval Forces, over the past day, the following vessels passed through the Kerch Strait in Russia's interest:
-
Two ships entered the Black Sea, but none continued toward the Bosporus Strait.
-
Twelve ships entered the Sea of Azov, with five of them coming from the Bosporus Strait.
The Ukrainian military also noted that Russia continues to violate the 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) by disabling automatic identification systems.
Additionally, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Georgiy Tikhiy recently pointed out that the ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine in the Black Sea applies to civilian shipping and ports but does not extend to Russian military vessels.
On March 26, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia aims to control the food corridor in the Black Sea but emphasized that it will not succeed in this goal.
