Russia doesn't deploy ships to Black Sea, relies on air power - Ukraine's navy
Russian Black Sea Fleet ships are avoiding sorties into the Black Sea due to a change in tactics and weather conditions. As a result, the enemy is relying on aviation, according to the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk.
"There has been a change in weather conditions, and an important factor is that they have shifted a significant portion of their naval and boat fleet capabilities to aviation," Pletenchuk said.
He clarified that Russian aviation is actively operating not only in the Black Sea but also in the Sea of Azov, carrying out strikes on Ukrainian positions.
The captain also emphasized that Ukraine continuously informs its partners about the presence of Russian aviation in the region.
"We are fighting this problem, and the Navy is also involved in air defense, particularly when it comes to shooting down drones. The areas we have liberated remain a 'gray zone' due to aviation, as the Russians use airspace to carry out strikes," he explained.
Russians strike Ukraine from Caspian Sea
Earlier, the Ukrainian Navy reported that the aggressor was using the Caspian Sea to launch attacks on Ukraine using strategic aviation. Although the region has Caliber missile carriers, they are not currently being used for attacks on Ukraine.
On the night of November 6, strike drones attacked the city of Kaspiysk in Dagestan. The strikes damaged the port infrastructure where the Caspian Flotilla of the Russian Navy is based. Fires broke out at the impact sites, one of the ships was damaged, and other vessels hurriedly left the harbor.
