The scale of losses after Russia’s attack on the main drone manufacturing plant for Lasar’s Group in Ukraine has been revealed for the first time. Damages exceed tens of millions of dollars.

This was stated by Deputy Commander of the Air Forces Pavlo Yelizarov, according to The Atlantic.

An official recalled that several months ago, a wave of Russian drones destroyed the main plant producing drones for Lasar’s Group, a special UAV unit within the National Guard of Ukraine, which has become one of the most effective formations in the war.

Losses from the attack were substantial: equipment worth around $35 million was burned, including a large stockpile of weapons. Previously, the target of the strike and the full extent of the damage were not disclosed.

The publication notes that similar enemy attacks have repeatedly disrupted Ukraine’s energy and heating networks throughout the winter, as temperatures frequently fell well below zero.

Lasar’s Group stands out for its innovative approach. The company operates like a Formula 1 team, with clearly defined roles, a focus on technology, and rapid adaptation. Most members are former civilians who underwent specialized training.

The unit actively uses drones to destroy Russian air defense systems (such as Buk and S-300V), armored vehicles, and other frontline targets. Lasar’s Group has become a symbol of technological adaptation in warfare, combining strike drones, operational intelligence, and efficient use of UAVs to weaken Russian military capabilities.

Meanwhile, Ukraine is developing its own anti-drone dome, including a laser air defense system and low-cost interceptor drones, designed to counter swarms of enemy strike UAVs.

This includes the Sunray laser system, capable of shooting down drones with a focused beam, developed in about two years at a fraction of the cost of similar projects abroad.

Ukrainian manufacturers have also created the 3D-printed P1-Sun interceptor drone, which has already entered serial production.
