Over the past day, January 2, Russians conducted assault operations at the Kharkiv and Kupiansk directions. Some positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed, according to the Khortytsia operational and strategic group of troops.

The Russians stormed Vovchansk in the Kharkiv sector, as well as in the areas of Zahryzove, Dvorichna, and Kruhliakivka in the Kupiansk sector.

“Some positions of Ukrainian troops were destroyed as a result of fire. Measures are being taken to prevent deterioration of the tactical situation,” writes the Khortytsia operational and strategic group of troops.

Situation in Kharkiv region

Yesterday, on January 2, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, said that the cities of Izium and Balakliia were being prepared for a circular defense. Among other things, the construction of fortifications continues.

Andrii Rubtsov, a communications officer with the 116th Separate Mechanized Brigade, said that Ukrainian troops have been recording Russian attempts to cross the Oskil River in the Kharkiv region.

According to the Ukrainian soldiers, Russians are trying to land on the islands in the Dnipro Delta and gain a foothold in the right-bank part of the region every day.

Russian attempts to expand their zone of influence in the Kharkiv region were also confirmed by the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko.
