Russia destroyed oil refinery in Kharkiv region with drones

On the night of Tuesday, March 18, Russian drones attacked an oil refinery in the city of Merefa owned by the Kharkiv-based AES Group investment and industrial group.
According to the AES Group, Russia launched about 20 drones at the enterprise, and the strikes lasted for two hours.
“This is the fourth Russian attack on the plant since February 2022. Until yesterday, the plant was operating at only 10% of its capacity, but after the latest attack it was destroyed,” the company said.
The firefighting operation lasted all night, and bomb squads are currently working at the scene.
The company says the Russian strike was fatal for the business.
“We are talking about starting bankruptcy proceedings. The fourth attack on the company was fatal. We can only hope for international courts, but in the current geopolitical situation in the world, the chances of justice are slim,” AES Group commented.
